Another declaration of love to New York City. Filmed in April 2010 during my collaboration with Miya Ando which inspired me greatly in doing this. Especially the second part of the video was fun shooting - New Yorkers are so used to seeing crazy people with cameras on the street...

This is an experimental (non-commercial) video documenting the flow of people at a crosswalk in New York City on a sunny friday afternoon. I was reminded of Frank O`Hara`s poem of the same title while doing this. The full length piece without cross-fades (appr. 30 minutes) will be shown on one of my upcoming exhibitions later this year. Maybe I will also extract still frames from this and create a photography series. <br/>By the way: If you haven`t read Frank`s &quot;A Step Away From Them&quot;, I would highly recommend to do so. It`s a great poem from 1956, combining streetlife with self-reflection, art and music.

these shots were taken in april 2010, when i was in NYC to work on a project with Miya Ando. In my spare time I walked the streets and more or less intuitively captured what was happening around me. i rarely looked through the viewfinder, i mostly just watched and pressed the shutter of the camera dangling from my neck. hope you like what my camera saw. please click on the right arrow below the slideshow-window to go to the uncropped images.
